Monthly Supervision Groups
The Vancouver Art Therapy Institute is offering monthly supervision groups for professional art therapists. We welcome you to join us for clinical support and the opportunity to connect with other professionals in the field. Groups are limited to 6 participants and engage both art making and discussion to work with issues related to professional practice.
When: The group meets monthly on a Wednesday (and occasionally Tuesday) night from 6:30-8:30 pm
If you are interested in attending please let us know and we will notify you by email about upcoming dates.
Supervision groups are currently facilitated by:
Gretchen Ladd BA, BFA, DVATI, RCAT
Gretchen has been teaching in the full time program at VATI since 2007. She has also taught art therapy in Nepal, Thailand and Japan and has a strong interest in the development of art therapy practices across cultures. Her own art therapy practice has focused on adults and families living with life-threatening illnesses, dementia, end of life issues and grief and loss. In 2004, she began working with Callanish Society, a non-profit organization which offers support programs and week-long retreats for people living with cancer.
Gretchen began offering clinical supervision in 2010 and enjoys supporting art therapists working in a variety of settings and consulting for those in related fields. As part of her self-care practice, she makes time for her own art making, which is currently expressive painting and drawing.
Free Individual Art Therapy
VATI offers an onsite art therapy clinic staffed by students from both the Fulltime and Advanced Diploma Programs. The students receive weekly supervision by our registered clinical supervisors.
Who do we see?
Adults, students, and children over age 5.
If you are interested in booking an appointment, please call us at 604-681-8284 and we will do an intake to assess for appropriateness. Please be advised that there may be a waitlist.
Fee for Service:
If you would like to book an art therapy session with a graduate of one of our programs, we offer a sliding scale fee; this means that fees are reduced for individuals with lower incomes. Please contact the school for more information.
“What is Art Therapy” Workshop
If you are interested in learning more about art therapy experientially, we do offer 3 hour workshops through VATI; these workshops give individuals the opportunity to explore the materials that are generally utilized in art therapy sessions as well as to receive information about our program offerings. The workshop will be facilitated by one of our faculty members.
The cost for the workshop is $75.00. For anyone interested in applying to the full time or advanced diploma program, this amount can go towards the application fee.
