Melissa Mountain is a Registered Psychologist (Alberta), art therapist, instructor, consultant, and peer clinical supervisor with a focus on mental health.

Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Calgary, a Master’s in Counselling and Art Therapy through Athabasca University in collaboration with VATI, as well as additional certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Melissa has a strong background in mental health, addiction, and trauma treatment.

Currently working within primary care settings, Melissa’s clinical focus on the use of cognitive behavioural therapy, somatic experiencing and creativity/art therapy to address a wide range of presenting concerns including mental health issues, chronic pain management, and adjustments to chronic terminal medical diagnoses. Melissa has a passion for supporting her clients to notice, foster, and nourish their own inner creativity beyond the boundaries of their mental or medical issues.

With over 31 years of experience in the counselling field, Melissa has consistently contributed to the ethical use of expressive arts models within her workplaces and community, the development of her colleagues, and the wellbeing of her clients.
