Raina Leyne, MC

Instructor

Raina is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Registered Art Therapist in Vancouver. She is of Cree, French, and Métis heritage. Growing up in a small town in Northern Alberta, Raina developed a passion for music, dance, and art.

VATI | Art Therapy Program Faculty | Peggy Clarkson, MA

She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology (2005) from the University of Alberta and a diploma in art therapy (2010) from the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute (VATI). After working as an art therapist for several years, Raina obtained a master’s in counselling psychology (2015) from Athabasca University.

With a propensity for creative problem solving, Raina uses both talk and expressive therapies in her practice. She gravitates towards a solution-focused approach and helps people understand their strengths to overcome life’s challenges. She believes that art, music, and dance have a unique ability to humanize a clinical experience and can aid in building a trusting therapeutic relationship, provide joy during a session, and offer insight.

Raina offers a wide variety of counselling services and is also a clinical supervisor and Case Studies instructor at VATI.
