Jennifer Hamman
Instructor
MA, RCC-ACS
Jennifer Hamman (she/her) has a diploma in Expressive Arts Therapy and a Masters of Arts in Expressive Arts Therapy with a Minor in Psychology from the European Graduate School. Jennifer received a BA in Psychology and Contemporary Dance at the University of Calgary, which fostered a love of movement and the creative process of choreographing and performing.

In addition to studying dance at U of C, Jennifer trained with Surge Training Program (W&M Physical Theater), attended Bates Dance Festival (Maine), Movement Research Summer Intensive (NYC), and presented original work at a number of Calgary-based festivals. Dance eventually brought Jennifer to Vancouver to participate in the Modus Operandi training program, where she also happened upon expressive arts therapy. EXA brought Jennifer an exciting opportunity to explore the creative process outside of professional arts and teaching dance, and instead as a process for healing, connection, resiliency and nourishment. She considers it an honor to work with clients in the richness of the imagination and loves how the work brings so much variety in its ability to meet each client in an individualized way.
Expressive arts therapy has given Jennifer a unique set of tools, an ability to improvise and a way to be present with whatever arrives in the therapy room that has sustained her work with a wide variety of clinical settings and client populations. She has worked with adults, youth and children in a First Nations community, at an elementary school, in trauma programs at a community-based not-for profit, and in a private practice setting. Jennifer is registered with BCACC as a Registered Clinical Counsellor as well as an Approved Clinical Supervisor. Jennifer is also a trained musician, and her personal creative practice involves playing and performing as a member of a cover band, as well as continuing to explore her love of movement.
