Melanie Rivers

MA Public HealthMelanie Rivers/Tiyaltwelwet (she/her), is an Indigenous portrait artist, instructor, and Expressive Arts Practitioner from the Squamish First Nation.

Melanie has 27 years of experience in designing and delivering culturally safe Indigenous health education and policy. She holds a Masters in Public Health from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and she graduated from the BC Expressive Arts Therapy Program in 2019.
Melanie facilitates art and creativity sessions that include painting, collage, movement, poetry and writing for individuals, teams, and communities. Melanie says; “Art is an incredibly powerful vehicle to express what can’t be said in words, a way to synthesize and capture an experience, transform stories, build bridges, heal, foster community and strengthen relationships”. In the workshops she teaches, Melanie draws from her traditional ancestry and on her vast experience in the health and healing field.
